The candle industry as many of us know rotates around Tea Lights, both 4 and 8 hour being the most common in the catering Industry. The Relight® Candle from Bolsius offers a similar solution to that of the Tea Light, gentle low level table candle light. So, what sets these candles apart and why would a caterer want to choose one over the other?

The Relight® from Bolsius offers a 24 hour cartridge type of candle which is made up of a small wax candle inside a coloured polycarbonate container (the refill). The refill cartridges come in 9 colours, allowing a little contrast. The refills fit inside a specially sized attractive glass holder and there are 4 different designs, so altogether there are 36 different options. Although there are many holders for Tea light candles of many different designs the Relight® candle holder is designed around the candle so it exacerbates it's beauty, completing the product.

A major difference is the Relight® candle lasts 24 hours where the Tea Light lasts a maximum of 10 hours with the Maxi Tea Light option, however standard Tea Lights last only 4 hours.

In terms of cost the Relight® is a slightly higher cost, but does it go head to head with the T-Light?

There is no doubt over the next few years some caterers, publicans, hotels and restaurateurs will swap out the Tea Light for the Relight®, however it does not compete head to head. The Relight® offers a very clean and simple way to have candle light at the dinner table or bar without any problems. It is likely that companies who have not had candles may start to choose this as an option to offer more ambient lighting adding a little extra to their current surrounding. The Tea Light market and Relight® market are similar, but not the same and Relight® won't be for everyone.

So will Relight® dominate the industry in the next few years?

With Tea Light's being such a cheap, fast, easy and long standing option to get ambient candle light into the premises, it is unlikely Relight® will ever dominate the catering industry, however we do believe it to become a major player over the coming years due to it being a beautiful cost effect clean and simplistic solution.
